The M5 is a rear wheel drive saloon (sedan) car with a front mounted engine, sold by BMW. The BMW M5 is one of the E39 model family from BMW. The 8 cylinder, double overhead camshaft naturally aspirated powerplant has 4 valves per cylinder and a volume of 4.9 litres. It provides power and torque figures of 394.5 bhp (400 PS/294 kW) at 6600 rpm and 500 Nm (369 lbft/51 kgm) at 3800 rpm respectively. The engine powers the wheels through a 6 speed manual gearbox. With a stated weight at the kerb of 1795 kg, the BMW M5 performs the 0-60 mph yardstick in 4.8 seconds and the standing quarter mile in 14.1 seconds.
